# How Meta Top-Up vs Credit Card Accounts Work

Threasury issues two types of **Meta** ad account: **top-up (prepaid)** and **credit-card (CC)**. They are different products. **We do not convert one into the other.** If you need the other format, request a **new** account. Both can sit in the same BM.

TikTok, Google, Snapchat, and Pinterest are **top-up only**.

# 1. Top-up accounts
You fund the Threasury wallet, then allocate to the ad account. Ads spend the prepaid balance.

* Instant API top-ups 24/7 on Meta (and TikTok HK / Google)
* Auto top-up rules available
* **Partial** Business Manager access
* Level-based fee reductions apply
* Meta **location fees (DST)** are passed through on top-ups, including on Unlimited plans
* No card on the ad account, so no card-decline pauses

Keep the wallet funded. Low ad-account balance = ads pause.

# 2. Credit-card accounts
You attach **your** card (or **PayPal**, allowed on Meta CC). Meta bills the card on its own threshold / billing-date logic. Threasury invoices our **agency fee** separately.

* **Full** BM access
* **No** level-based fee reductions. CC fee stays at the region base rate
* Location fees are billed **by Meta to the card**, not through our top-up flow
* Card declines, OTPs, and 3-D Secure failures can pause or restrict the account
* PayPal is **not** a Threasury wallet method; it is only a Meta-side method on CC accounts

### Card / credit-line lock window
Meta card and credit-line work is **locked from the 29th through the 4th** of the month and **opens on the 5th**. Plan new CC accounts and credit-line changes around that window.

# Which should you choose?
For most advertisers, **top-up** is more stable. Choose **CC** if you specifically need postpaid billing, card points, or PayPal on the ad account.

# Common misconceptions
* Wallet balance ≠ ad-account balance. Allocate (or auto top-up) before you expect spend
* Switching Starter → Unlimited applies **0%** to existing accounts on that platform; it does not convert CC ↔ top-up
* “Amount owed” / credit-line lines in the dashboard are often **our** internal coverage, not a bill you must pay. Ask support with a screenshot if unsure
